Winter Coaching Block

A 12-week private, one-to-one coaching block designed to give school athletes structured exposure to high-performance training standards.

The focus is on experience and understanding - particularly around technical execution, physiological intent, and how training decisions are made. Athletes are held to clear standards and expectations appropriate to their stage of development, supporting both physical preparation and the mental skills required to train consistently through the winter.

The emphasis is not on short-term acceleration, but on informed, purposeful work across the winter period.

How the Winter Block Is Delivered

  • Weekly private on-water technical coaching (pair or double)
  • Individual Performance Plan with technical and behavioural standards
  • Individually written training aligned with school rowing demands
  • Monitoring via TrainingPeaks and heart rate compliance
  • Scheduled lactate testing to guide aerobic development
  • Movement assessment by a rowing-specific physiotherapist
  • Mid-block review and adjustments
  • Final evaluation with written summary

What Athletes Typically Take Forward

  • A clearer understanding of their technical priorities
  • More consistent and intentional daily training habits
  • Greater ownership and maturity in how they approach training
  • A calmer, more deliberate relationship with performance and feedback

We weren't looking for a hypey camp. We wanted structure, individual attention, and honest feedback. This gave our son clarity and real change.
